There are different company that provide the bus transportation from Rome to Pompeii by bus as: Marozzi, FlixBus, GetByBus, etc… most of all will depart from Rome Tiburtina at 7 AM, the bus ticket for one way journey is from 15 Euro to 30 Euro per person and the travel time is about 3 hours and 30 minutes. Some company will stop during the travel to take other passengers. Once in Pompeii you will have to walk a little bit to get to the Pompeii ruins entrance and then finally you can visit the ancient town.

 

How to get from Rome to Pompeii by train

There are fast trains from Rome to Pompeii: Trenitalia Freccia Rossa and Italo. They depart from Roma Termini or Tiburtina station about each 30 minutes about and will stop at Napoli Centrale station. Travel time is about 1 hour and 15 minutes and the cost per person is from 15 Euro to 30 Euro each way. Then once at Naples Centrale you will have to walk to Circumvesuviana train station (5 minutes walk inside the train station) there you will have to take the local train to Pompeii, it runs about each 40 minutes and the ticket will cost about 4 Euro per person.

 

For both transportation by bus and by train you will always remember to watch the clock as if you miss the return bus or train to Rome you will be in trouble and also you will have the time to visit only Pompeii and cannot add a visit to Vesuvius, Amalfi coast or winery on Vesuvius slopes.
